Littleton Joyce Ughetta Park & Kelly LLP announces litigator Thomas M. Grasso has joined the firm’s maritime and transportation practice as Of Counsel. Grasso brings to the firm more than 25 years of experience in international and domestic transportation, trade, logistics, and insurance of goods.
“Littleton Joyce is the perfect match for me because we both protect manufacturers and their products,” Grasso said. “While the firm is highly regarded for defending manufacturers in product liability claims, my practice focuses on protecting the integrity of the products when they’re shipped. And we overlap in terms of our experience with related contracts.”
Grasso concentrates his practice on admiralty and maritime law, marine insurance and, specifically, cargo damage and loss subrogation litigation in New York and New Jersey. He represents clients and their underwriters in trades involving a variety of goods, including chemicals, consumer electronics, apparel and agricultural products.
“In a cargo loss or damage dispute, Tom can review the chain of events, assess the contracts and applicable laws and, if necessary, take the case to trial,” says Managing Partner Robert J. Kelly. “With his ability to address the sales of goods and logistics across all modes of global transport, we can now offer clients seamless legal representation— from the design and manufacture of goods right through to their delivery to the buyer.”
Grasso received his JD from the University of Akron School Of Law and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, American Institute of Marine Underwriters, Transportation Lawyers Association, International Refrigerated Transport Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, Foreign Commerce Club of New York, Newark Traffic Club, New York/New Jersey Freight Forwarders and Brokers Association and the Connecticut Maritime Association.
